Download Navis

Version 1.5.0, released 18 October 2026. Free, no account needed. What's new

Navis connects to your own music server: Navidrome or any other Subsonic or OpenSubsonic server. It doesn't include music or a streaming service of its own.

Files on this page, and in-app updates by default, come from Porthorion's servers at downloads.porthorion.com. The same files are also attached to each GitHub release. Where downloads come from

Navis isn't available for macOS or iOS yet. The downloads below are for Android, Windows and Linux.

On a Chromebook, the Linux .deb package installs in the Linux development environment.

Navis is free software under the GNU GPL. Source code for version 1.5.0 is on GitHub.

Know your architecture?

The universal APK works on every supported device. If you know which processor type your device has, the build made for it is a smaller download. If you're not sure, use the universal APK.

A guide, not a complete list. Settings > About phone, or apps such as CPU-Z or Droid Hardware Info, show your device's instruction set (for example arm64-v8a). All Navis APKs are signed with the same key, so they install over each other, and in-app updates download the build that matches your device.

Installing

Coming from Navis 1.4? Install the new version over it. The first launch rebuilds the library cache once, which can take a while on a large library. Your downloads, settings, sign-in and queue are kept.

Android: installing the APK
  1. Open the downloaded .apk file from your notifications or your Files app.
  2. If Android asks, allow your browser or Files app to install unknown apps. You can turn this permission off again afterwards.
  3. Tap Install. Future versions install over the top and keep your settings.

Every official Navis APK, universal or for one processor type, is signed with the same key. Its SHA-256 certificate fingerprint is:
12:C6:41:1B:2A:9F:D3:0B:2B:B8:63:01:9D:63:08:5E:5F:36:A1:D2:09:A1:D1:F1:55:9D:70:95:50:E9:B0:C7

To check a downloaded APK on a computer, run apksigner verify --print-certs on it (apksigner comes with the Android SDK build-tools). It prints the same fingerprint in lower case, without the colons. keytool shows nothing for Navis APKs, because they use the newer APK signature scheme only.

Android refuses to update Navis with an APK signed by a different key, which protects you from tampered copies. Only download Navis from this page.

Windows: running the installer
  1. Run navis-v1.5.0-windows-installer.exe and follow the steps. Navis is installed to Program Files, with Start menu and desktop shortcuts. To remove it, use Settings > Apps.
  2. Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" (SmartScreen) message. It appears for apps from small independent developers that haven't built up download reputation with Microsoft yet. It does not mean a virus was found. Choose More info, check the file came from this site and its checksum matches, then Run anyway.

Navis runs on 64-bit (x64) Windows 10 and 11.

Linux: .deb, .rpm or the portable build

.deb (Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and others)

Open the file in your software centre, or install it from a terminal in your downloads folder:

sudo apt install ./navis-v1.5.0-linux-amd64.deb

.rpm (Fedora, Nobara and openSUSE Tumbleweed)

# Fedora and Nobara
sudo dnf install ./navis-v1.5.0-linux-x86_64.rpm
# openSUSE Tumbleweed
sudo zypper install ./navis-v1.5.0-linux-x86_64.rpm

It needs glibc 2.35 or newer, so it doesn't run on RHEL, Rocky Linux or AlmaLinux 9, or on openSUSE Leap 15. The portable build has the same requirement.

To update, download the new .rpm and install it the same way.

Portable .tar.gz (any distribution)

The archive has no top-level folder, so make one first, extract into it, then run Navis from it:

mkdir navis
tar -xzf navis-v1.5.0-linux.tar.gz -C navis
./navis/navis

It needs glibc 2.35 or newer, GTK 3, libsecret (to store your server password) and a sound server: PulseAudio, or PipeWire with its PulseAudio support. Most desktop distributions include all of them. If Navis doesn't start, install them (libgtk-3-0 libsecret-1-0 on Debian and Ubuntu,gtk3 libsecret on Fedora, gtk3 libsecret alsa-lib libpulse on Arch) and try again. To update, replace the extracted files with the new version.

On Arch Linux, CachyOS or Manjaro, use this build for now: the AUR package can't be released yet because AUR registration is temporarily closed (FAQ).

Checking your download

Compute the SHA-256 checksum of the file you downloaded and compare it with the one below. If they differ, delete the file and download it again.

Where downloads come from

Every download on this site is served from Porthorion's Cloudflare servers at downloads.porthorion.com, not from GitHub, and so are Navis's updates unless you choose GitHub in Settings > Integrations > Updates; they are verified the same way either way. Each GitHub release carries identical copies of the same files, and its notes start with links back to downloads.porthorion.com. Whichever copy you download, its SHA-256 checksum matches the one on this page and in the release's SHA256SUMS file (SHA256SUMS).

Navis is open source under the GNU GPL. The source code is at github.com/Porthorion/Navis, and the code for version 1.5.0 is at its release tag.
