Website privacy policy
This website has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. This page explains the little data that is still processed and why.
Last updated 14 October 2026
This policy covers the website at navis.porthorion.com and file downloads from downloads.porthorion.com. The Navis app has its own policy: see the app privacy policy.
Who is responsible
The website and the Navis app are run by Porthorion, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). For anything about privacy, including requests to exercise your rights, email [email protected].
What we do not do
- We do not use cookies.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, session recording or fingerprinting.
- We do not load anything from third-party servers. Fonts, images and scripts are all served from this website.
- We do not have user accounts, forms or newsletters, and we do not sell or share personal data.
What is processed, and why
Server logs (hosting)
The website runs on servers we operate. Visits reach them through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., which provides our content delivery, DDoS protection and secure connection to our servers. File downloads, and the update checks the Navis app makes, are served by Cloudflare’s storage service at downloads.porthorion.com. Like any web service, these systems necessarily process technical data to deliver pages and files to you and to protect against abuse and attacks:
- your IP address
- the date and time of the request
- the page or file requested, and the response status
- your browser’s user-agent string and the referring page
This data is used only to deliver the website, keep it secure and troubleshoot problems. We do not use it to identify or profile visitors. Our own servers keep such technical logs for no longer than 30 days. Cloudflare acts as our processor and keeps its logs for a limited time under its own practices; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Cloudflare may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States, under the safeguards described in its policy.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website (GDPR / UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), and the processing needed to provide the website you requested under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).
Theme preference (stored on your device)
If you switch the site to the light theme, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage under the key theme. It never leaves your device, is not sent to us, and is used for nothing else. Switching back to the dark theme deletes it. Because it only stores a display setting you asked for, it is strictly necessary and does not require consent. You can also clear it at any time through your browser’s site data settings.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply and handle your request, and delete it when it is no longer needed for that purpose, normally within 12 months of the conversation ending, unless we need to keep it longer to deal with a legal claim. Email is delivered through our email provider.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps you asked for.
Links to other websites
Some pages link to other websites, such as the Navis source code and issue tracker on GitHub, our Ko-fi page, and the services Navis works with. Nothing is loaded from those sites until you click a link. Once you do, you are on their site, under their own privacy policy. Opening a GitHub issue, for example, is covered by GitHub’s privacy policy, and anything you post there is public.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Because we keep almost no personal data, in most cases we will not hold anything that can be linked to you. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
